Akshay Kumar's reputation as Bollywood's busiest star is holding up. Mid-day reported on October 15, 2026 that, just two days after returning from a month-long UK schedule for Samuk, the actor has headed to Dehradun to shoot a special song for Anees Bazmee's yet-untitled family comedy with Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna. The Rs 1 crore song: what we know
According to mid-day's Mohar Basu, Akshay will film the special song over five days in Dehradun. Sources told the paper that it will be one of the film's major highlights and that the makers have set aside "around Rs 1 crore" for it. Mid-day promised "grand sets, larger-than-life treatment" and, of course, Akshay's dance moves.
Bollywood Mascot, citing the mid-day report, added that the track is planned as a post-credits number, that choreographer Vijay Ganguly is designing it, and that Vidya Balan is likely to feature, with her portions possibly shot later. Treat those details as reportedly for now. The makers have not released any official information about the song, its music or its budget breakdown.
The budget figure is also a source claim, not a production statement. Song budgets usually cover sets, dancers, costumes, lighting and crew, not just a single big set.
Why Dehradun, again
This isn't the film's first song trip. In June, mid-day reported that Akshay, Vidya and Raashii had shot parts of a romantic track on a set at Royal Palms in Goregaon, Mumbai, choreographed by Vijay Ganguly. That song shows how the characters played by Akshay and Vidya, a married couple, fell in love, and how Akshay's character met Raashii's, his former girlfriend. At the time, a source said the unit would go to Dehradun in July to finish it.
In August, mid-day reported that the team had begun its final 15-day Mumbai schedule at the SRPF Grounds in Goregaon, covering a song with the two leads and a large comic climax. The October trip is for a separate special song.
Straight off the Samuk set
The timing is what makes this story stand out. Bollywood Hungama reported on October 12 that Samuk, the sci-fi action thriller directed by Kanishk Varma and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, had wrapped its UK schedule. The team had been shooting in the UK since late August, and about 80 per cent of the film was reportedly completed there. A final 20-day leg is planned in Mumbai.
