Street Fighter movie 2026 opens wide in the United States on Friday 16 October, bringing Capcom's World Warrior roster back to multiplexes for the first live-action feature since 2009. Directed by Kitao Sakurai for Legendary and Capcom, and distributed by Paramount Pictures, the film runs about 120 minutes and lands in IMAX as well as standard screens. This same-day guide covers the cast map, the 1993-set plot, box-office expectations and how it sits beside the rest of the weekend slate.

Street Fighter release date and runtime

Paramount and Legendary set the US theatrical date for 16 October 2026, after a premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on 12 October. The BBFC lists a 12A UK classification and a 120-minute runtime. The project moved from an earlier Sony window after Legendary's distribution deal shifted to Paramount in 2025. Enstarz and Box Office Mojo both flag Street Fighter as the weekend's widest opener, with reports of roughly 3,500+ North American theaters.

Cast: who plays Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Bison?

The ensemble is headlined by Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Andrew Koji as Ryu (including Evil Ryu). Callina Liang plays Chun-Li, an undercover Interpol agent in this telling. David Dastmalchian is M. Bison; WWE's Roman Reigns plays Akuma; Cody Rhodes is Guile; Jason Momoa is Blanka; 50 Cent is Balrog; Orville Peck is Vega; Vidyut Jammwal is Dhalsim; Andrew Schulz is Dan Hibiki; and Don Lee voices Gouken in flashbacks. Additional cast listed by Wikipedia and studio materials includes Eric André, Olivier Richters, Mel Jarnson and Alexander Volkanovski.

Liang told IGN she trained daily in taekwondo, Muay Thai and wushu and bulked for the role, reporting each thigh grew about 6.5 cm by the end of the Australia shoot.

Plot: 1993 World Warrior tournament

Set six years after Ryu's 1987 tournament win awakens Akuma and costs mentor Gouken his life, the film follows Chun-Li as she recruits estranged fighters Ryu and Ken for M. Bison's second World Warrior tournament in Metrolao. Bison's scheme to harvest Ryu's power, prison fights with Blanka, and a late confrontation with Akuma drive the action. Screenplay credit goes to T. J. Fixman and Sakurai, from a story by Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman. Titmouse animated 1990s-anime-style flashback sequences.

Box office and early reviews

Deadline and Variety mid-October tracking put the domestic opening in a roughly $25–39 million range, with some global-opening chatter near $70 million. As of opening weekend, Rotten Tomatoes showed mixed early notices (about 47% from ~60 reviews in Wikipedia's snapshot) and Metacritic around 45. Treat those aggregates as moving targets once Friday evening reviews pile in.
